Creative Projects

Whilst volunteering as a music mentor at Catherine House, Adelaide, Sarah gained a deeper understanding of the challenges and the rise of homelessness in women. Eager to contribute in response, Sarah set about writing an intimate collection of original songs exploring themes of home, love and loss.

“I started exploring themes of home, what it means to people, whether it’s a place, a person or something completely unique. I wanted to explore the intersectionality of women’s homelessness through music with the aim to raise awareness.”

Contributing to Adelaide’s UNESCO Creative Cities Network the EP project was funded by a crowdfunding campaign and recorded at Wizard Tone Studio’s with Jarrad Payne as engineer. Sarah played most of the instruments herself on the recording featuring her love of the string quartet medium and launched the project with a live performance at Adelaide’s home of original music, The Wheatsheaf.

The sellout launch featured live band, string quartet and horns performed by Adam PageJosh BaldwinDjango RoweFelicity FreemanSimone SlatteryTori PhillipsKaren De Nardi and Gemma Phillips.
